Procedures for getting Assignments
Assigning Process
The assigning of games is carried out in the following order:- indicate initial availability ---- complete Ref Registration form needed
- initial assignments made
- confirm / decline initial assignments
- confirmations reviewed and declined assignments reassigned
- additional assignments made and sent
- open game assignments published
- open game assignments requested by referees
- open assignment requests reviewed and responded to (occurs continuously throughout season)
Factors
The following are considered in making assignments:- availability of referee
- experience of referee
- age of referee
- specific teams playing
- level of competition
- other referees in crew assigned/available
- number of games assigned to referee that day
- whether break is available/necessary for referee
Requests for Open Assignments.
As the season goes on, additional assignments become available. This occurs because of games which have been rescheduled, cancelled or were not on the original schedule. As these assignments arise they will be posted on the Open Assignments Page. Specific referee positions or games may not be listed on the Open Assignments Page. For example, you may only see an age group and time of the assignment. This allows for better assigning because there may be more than one game at the given time. This will make it easier to keep referees from having to change fields or becoming overloaded with AR or CR assignments on one day. In making assignments from the Open Assignments requests, the time the request is submitted is not necessarily a determining factor. However, all other things being equal, the first request for an assignment will be given priority.
