Midwest Cup 2009 Referees

Referee Check-in and Game Day Procedures

DAILY CHECK-IN

All Referees must check in at the Referee Tent AT LEAST 45 minutes PRIOR to your kickoff of your first game. You will receive your FINAL schedule of assignments. We will have a short referee meeting and you will receive last minute instructions. The referee tent is also the early morning home to coffee, donuts and muffins.

UNIFORMS

Official USSF Referee uniforms are required. My expectations are explained here. A full explanation about the current standard referee uniform can be found here.. Those of you who have reffed for me at this tournament before know that this is critical. If you have questions about this, please call me.

Parking

Please park in the lot to the West of the park. It is identified on the Field map. Let the parking volunteer know that you are a referee. You will not be charged. To get to the Referee lot, drive west past the park entrance on Campton Hills Road and take the next Left to the gravel road just before the Youth Home entrance.

Lunch

Lunch is provided for all referees working at least three games. There are usually brats, pizza, burgers, hot dogs and all the various accoutrements. You will get a lunch ticket in the referee tent.

Water

Coolers with cold water will be available in the Referee Tent. I suggest you bring a bottle (or bottles) to fill or hold onto your first bottle. The supply of bottled water will be limited. Be sure to stay well hydrated. Although the weather is not expected to be extremely hot, you still need to watch out for dehydration. Remember, by the time you feel thirsty and dry, it's too late, you are becoming dehydrated. Fill up ahead of time. Although we try to deliver water to the fields when possible, don't depend us to do so right when you need it.

Rules

KNOW THE RULES. Don't assume that everything is the same as your league rules. They are NOT. Check the rules page and know the modifications for all the age groups you are reffing. Keep a copy of the mods in your bag if that helps. If you have any questions, ASK AT THE REF MEETING.
